CHATTANOOGA — The Chattanooga Mocs Men’s Golf Team got off to a good start at Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate. The Mocs rounded the Blackthorn Club in 2 under 286, which matched NC State that day.
Braedon Clothing, fresh off his first collegiate victory, led the team with a score of under 70. He’s now 12 under in his last 72 holes. It was a clear Gabe Hunter 71 who was a better than Paul Conroy leveling to 72. This was a lead on the final card counting of 73 by Matt smith who exceeded the count of Connor nolan by… you guessed it. Leon Bader joined in chain of fire 75 as an individual.
Chattanooga started her day on the 10th and is off to a good start. The five student-athletes were both par or better on the first five to seven three-under holes as a group.
The middle holes retreated and the group fell to 2 in 12-14. They finished as strong as they started with seven birdies down the home stretch to win four shots and finish at 286.
The Mocs and Wolfpack are tied for ninth, one behind UAB in eighth. The pair are ahead of Maryland at 12th at 1 under with 11 of 15 schools on the field breaking par on the opening 18. Louisville and host ETSU lead with 277. Eight individuals carded 4 under 68 to take the first player in the lead, two ahead of Wear.
