Maruti Suzuki will launch 3 more SUVs

Maruti Suzuki has recently launched the new Brezza SUV under 4 meters in the price range of Rs 7.99 lakh to Rs 13.80 lakh (ex-showroom). The company will soon introduce a new compact SUV, codenamed YFG in the country. It is rumored to be called Maruti Suzuki Vitara, the new model is expected to be introduced in the third week of July 2022. In addition to this, the company also plans to launch 2 more SUVs in 2023.

Production of the new Suzuki Vitara will begin in August 2022. The new model will be based on Suzuki’s Global-C platform which underpins the new Brezza and the recently unveiled Toyota Hyryder. The new model will share most components with the Hyryder; however, Maruti Suzuki will be making some changes to keep things fresh in the market. The new model will come with a differently styled front fascia inspired by the new Brezza and the global Suzuki A-Cross.

The new Maruti Suzuki Vitara will be offered with two engine options – a 1.5-liter K15C petrol with a mild hybrid setup and Toyota’s 1.5L TNGA Atkinson Cycle engine. The first is capable of producing 101 hp and 137 Nm of torque. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic. The hybrid powertrain includes a 1.5L gasoline engine with an electric motor delivering 79 hp and 141 Nm of torque. The combined power is 115 hp. The system includes a 177.6 V lithium-ion battery and offers an electric range of up to 25 km. Transmission duties will be handled by Toyota’s e-drive gearbox.

Suzuki Jimny 5-Door Rendering

MSIL will introduce the 5-door version of the Jimny lifestyle SUV in the country in 2023. It is expected to be unveiled at Auto Expo 2023 in January. The new Maruti Jimny 5-door production is expected to start in early 2023. The SUV is expected to be launched in the first quarter of FY23-24, between April and June 2023. It will be based on the existing 3-door. Jimny Sierra. The SUV will be less than 4 meters long and significantly cheaper than the 3-door Mahindra Thar.

It will be powered by a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder K15C petrol engine that produces 105hp and 137Nm of torque. The SUV could also receive a mild hybrid system for better fuel efficiency. Based on the ladder-frame chassis, the new Jimny 5-Door will benefit from low-end transfer gearing and 3-link rigid-axle suspension along with Suzuki’s Allgrip Pro all-wheel-drive system. Both manual and automatic gearbox options will likely be offered.

Maruti Futuro Details

Maruti Suzuki is also preparing a new SUV coupe, codenamed YTB, based on Baleno’s HEARTECT platform. The new Coupe SUV would be sold alongside the Brezza and will come with a higher degree of electrification. It could be the production version of the Futuro-e Concept, which was unveiled at Auto Expo 2020. It is said to be the sportiest Maruti SUV and will have a more coupe SUV design.

It will be sold through premium NEXA dealerships. The upcoming Maruti YTB Compact Coupe SUV will be offered with a single gasoline engine option. It is likely to be powered by a 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine with a more powerful hybrid with a greater degree of electrification. This will help achieve greater energy efficiency.
