With the timeless designs of Manolo Blahnik’s sleek, handmade men’s shoes, it was only a matter of time before the popular designer returned to the big screen.

Blahnik has teamed up with award-winning costume designer Catherine Martin to create a shoe catalog that depicts the complex anatomy of Elvis Presley’s aesthetic in “Elvis,” director Baz Luhrmann’s upcoming film.

The designer’s handcrafted shoe silhouettes – designed to reflect nostalgic elements of the 1950s era – will be seen throughout the film on Elvis Presley (played by Austin Butler) and also on Jerry Schilling (played by actor Luke Bracey), which depicts the long life of the associate artist.

“Coincidentally, Manolo Blahnik’s signature lace-up shoes are strikingly similar to the shoes Elvis usually wore in the mid-1950s,” Martin said in a statement. “The iconic designer’s love of this style coincidentally mirrored the aesthetic of Elvis in the 1950s.”

Not only has Martin turned to the designer for unique additions to Elvis’ flashy sequin jumpsuits, but she relies on the signature aesthetic of the Blahnik shoe to add a certain je ne sais quoi to her stage outfit. eccentric.

And for his part, Blahnik has a personal affinity with the era.

“The 1950s in general is an era that draws me in so often, especially in my menswear designs, with some of my past and more recent collections inspiring pieces in the film,” Blahnik said in a statement.

Some of these classic styles have been heavily influenced by silhouettes available on ManoloBlahnik.com and in Manolo Blahnik boutiques around the world. Figures seen throughout the film include Victor, Tupelo, Graceland, and Cramer.

The Victor is an elegant white calfskin boot, the Tupelo is a two-tone black and white calfskin lace-up boot, the Graceland is a classic cappuccino-colored suede rocker chukka boot, and the Cramer is a brown boot. calfskin boot with embroidery details.

This is the second collaboration between Blahnik and Martin, who previously worked together on Luhrmann’s hit film “Moulin Rouge”.

Other designers also contributed to the “Elvis” look, including Miuccia Prada. Some of her most notable costumes in film include a beaded and fringed brocade pantsuit worn by Priscilla Presley at the opening night concert in Las Vegas, directed by Miu Miu. And for Elvis, Prada designed a custom look with a distinctive plum kid mohair suit.

“Elvis” hits theaters worldwide starting June 22 and in North America on June 24.
