Huang joins Cotopaxi from his most recent role as CEO of acclaimed outdoor brand, Eddie Bauer, after previous roles at Patagonia as VP of Design and Merchandising, and nearly a decade at The North Face in product-focused roles. In his role at Eddie Bauer, Huang rebuilt and repositioned the brand as defined by outdoor accessibility, established a roadmap for sustainability, launched and developed the First Ascent line through innovative design, helping the brand win over 50 industry awards. He simultaneously steered the company through a merger, acquisition, and then the Covid-19 pandemic, while guiding the transition from a catalog retailer to a digital-first business with deep omnichannel integration.
At Cotopaxi, Huang’s new role at the eight-year-old impact-driven lifestyle brand reports directly to the company’s founder/CEO, David Smith, and will help drive strategy, operations, and execution across the C-suite and organization. The position is focused on brand building, impact across strategic brand axes and elevating products consciously designed and manufactured as part of Cotopaxi’s global impact mission.

Huang will be based at Seattlemaking frequent trips Salt Lake City, UTwhere Cotopaxi is based, but is part of the new remote structure that the employee-focused company put in place in 2020. Damien enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife Maria and 2 sons, fishing fly, ski, snowboard, surf, basketball, play guitar and explore new places.
