3 new Maruti Ertiga CNG variants coming soon

Maruti-Suzuki presented the updated Ertiga in April 2022 at a starting price of Rs 8.35 lakh. The MPV was offered in 11 variants including 5 gasoline manuals, 3 gasoline automatics and 3 CNG. Now, the automaker plans to expand the new Ertiga model range with the addition of 3 new CNG variants – VXi (O), ZXi (O) and Tour M (O). At present, the Maruti Ertiga CNG 2022 is available in VXi, ZXi and Tour M variants priced at Rs 10.44 lakh, Rs 11.54 lakh and Rs 10.41 lakh respectively (all ex-showroom) .

The 2022 Maruti Ertiga gets its power from a new 1.5-liter DualJet engine with two injectors per cylinder and start-stop technology. The engine develops a maximum power of 103 hp at 6,000 rpm and 136.8 Nm at 4,400 rpm. Compared to the old engine, the updated engine is 2 hp less powerful and 1.2 Nm less torque.

Maruti will use the same engine in the second-generation Brezza which is due June 2022. The MPV can be equipped with either a 5-speed manual or a new 6-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox. Automatic variants come with paddle shifters. The new Maruti Ertiga offers a claimed mileage of 20.52 kmpl and 20.30 kmpl with manual and automatic gearbox respectively. The Maruti Ertiga CNG 2022 comes with the same 1.5 L Dualjet engine rated at 87 hp with 121.5 Nm when running on CNG and 100 hp with 136 Nm when running on gasoline mode. It is only available with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Maruti Suzuki claims that the Ertiga CNG can travel 26.11 km/kg.

As of now, there is no official word on new Ertiga CNG variants. We expect the automaker to offer additional features on the VXi (O), ZXi (O) and Tour M (O) variants, including a 7-inch SmartPlay Pro touchscreen infotainment system, sheathed steering of leather with a metallic teak wood finish, cruise control, key-operated retractable ORVMs and automatic headlights with Follow Me Home function.
