0

The new Porsche 911 Sport Classic is the second part of the manufacturer’s Heritage Design strategy. This beautiful work of art is inspired by the 911 design of the 1960s and 1970s and comes with heritage and history around every curve and corner.

The modern 911 may be an iconic collector’s item, but Porsche has included the very latest in infotainment, driving technology and assist features to make it a car worthy of both the road and the museum. With just 1,250 units slated for production later in 2022, the Porsche 911 Sport Classic is definitely worth it. To find out more about the new Porsche 911 Sport Classic, here are 10 things we now know about the German sports car:

ten 1250 units produced

Designed and manufactured by a special department of Porsche, the 911 Sport Classic is a limited series vehicle. With plans to produce just 1,250 units, the car is as rare as many Lamborghinis and Ferraris on the market.

To put that into perspective, Lamborghini has produced over 14,000 Huracans in the last 8 years. This makes the Porsche 911 Sport Classic an incredibly rare and valuable collector’s item. Porsche knew this and designed the vehicle as part of its four-pronged heritage design strategy.

9 Inspired by the original 911

The Porsche 911 Sport Classic is a specially designed sports car from Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur. This purpose-built vehicle is designed to succeed the original 911 and the 911 Carrera RS 2.7.

Although the new Sport Classic is equipped with the latest driving technologies that Porsche and Volkswagen have to offer, the overall styling pays homage to the original 911. This makes the sports car a modern take on an institutional classic.

8 Iconic Number Sticker

The Porsche 911 Sport Classic comes with a unique exterior design. In addition to the modern design, LED headlights and ducktail-shaped rear wing, the Porsche comes with racing stripes on the front trunk lid and round number decals on the sides.

Each Porsche also comes with an exclusive badge to remind you how unique and rare the vehicle is. The main badging is found on the sides of the car and includes the unique designation “Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur”.

7 Available in Targa version

Although the Porsche 911 Sport Classic is a rare vehicle, it comes in a few different variants. While the standard coupé and convertible are the most popular with Porsche fans around the world, the 911 is also available as a Targa model.

The Targa model is one of the most unique, rare and beautiful versions of the Porsche. This type of convertible is available in a variety of other Porsche models and is a favorite with fans around the world.

6 543 hp powertrain

The Porsche 911 Sport Classic is equipped with the classic 6-cylinder engine from Porsche. This powerful and compact powertrain is capable of producing up to 543 hp at 6,750 rpm. Porsche tells us it can officially do the 0-60 in 3.9 seconds.

The 911 Sport Classic can also accelerate from 80 to 120 km/h in just 4.5 seconds. On top of that, Porsche also lists the car’s quarter-mile time at an impressive 12 seconds. However, if there’s one thing we know, it’s that Porsche tends to be cautious when quoting performance numbers.

5 Manual transmission

If you needed another reason to list the 911 Sport Classic as an iconic sports car, Porsche has included a 7-speed manual gearbox. It is one of the fastest production cars in the world to come with a manual transmission.

If this car is meant to be an investment, the manual transmission will appeal to even the most avid collectors. In addition to the manual transmission, the Porsche comes with dynamic driving modes to help keep gear changes clear and smooth.

4 Classic Porsche performance

The Porsche 911 Sport Classic is due out later in September 2022. Once this impressive piece of engineering hits the track, we’ll know how well it compares to some rivals. However, the initial numbers from Porsche are incredibly promising.

The 543 hp engine is listed to accelerate from 0-60 in 3.9 seconds. The powertrain can also propel the car to a top speed of around 195 miles per hour. Although it’s only a 6-cylinder engine, performance is incredibly similar to V8s in the same segment.

3 A work of art

While many may think that all Porsches look the same, the 911 Sport Classic definitely stands out. The rear spoiler gives the Sport Classic silhouette a look similar to the Turbo models, while the wheels and rear exhaust pack give the sports car a fully optional look.

Being a rare sports car, the 1,250 units are not required to do a lot of road mileage. The car seems to be geared towards the wealthy enthusiast and is more of a collector’s item than a track car.

2 Iconic racing colors

Enzo Ferrari once said that if you told a child to draw a sports car, he would color it red. While that might be true for Ferrari, thinking of Porsche, the color is a unique shade of agate gray metallic.

The new 911 Sport Classic is available in several colours. These include black, gentian blue and trendy grey. The exterior of the new Porsche features a blacked out grille, tinted rims and racing stripes on the hood.

1 premium price

The new Porsche 911 Sport Classic is expected to be even more expensive than the Turbo S at over $207,000. Although you may be surprised by this number, it is similar to other cars in this particular segment like the Ferrari Roma, Mercedes-AMG GTC and Aston Martin Vanquish.

What makes the Porsche 911 Sport Classic worth its price is the rarity of the vehicle. While the Roma may be a Ferrari, production numbers aren’t limited like that of the 911 Sport Classic. That means the 911 is a better long-term investment.
